Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday revealed that the Sindh government has announced a major development package of Rs83 billion for Karachi, and assigned the responsibility to the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) for the implementation of all upcoming projects in the city.

The announcement was made during a provincial cabinet meeting at the Chief Minister House on Tuesday, which was convened to deliberate on a comprehensive 18-point agenda.

Mr. Shah expressed his determination that Karachi would become the “world’s best city” after the completion of major projects in the transport, roads, sewerage, water, and health sectors.

The Chief Minister directed all government departments to accelerate their development works, emphasizing that the effective utilization of the development budget for the welfare of the public is the responsibility of the administration.

He further directed the provincial ministers to personally monitor the progress of schemes in their respective departments to ensure effective implementation.

The Chief Minister also highlighted that development works are underway in industrial areas, and said that both industrial and agricultural development are indispensable for the province’s economy.

According to the Chief Minister’s spokesperson, the meeting’s agenda also included the presentation of the Finance Committee’s report by the Minister for Local Government.

The high-level meeting was attended by provincial ministers, advisors, special assistants, the chief secretary, and secretaries of the relevant departments.
