Kashmir polls: Marri sees victory of PPP’s two candidates in recounting

KARACHI: Central Information Secretary Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians and Member of the National Assembly Shazia Atta Marri said Monday that final results of LA-16 constituency, district Bagh of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, had not been given to the PPP candidates yet while Pakistan Peoples Party’s leading candidate Sardar Qamar Zaman was winning by a clear margin in the Bagh District.

The polling stations were set on fire to avoid defeat in the constituency LA-16, district Bagh in AJK, she said in a statement issued today. Marri warned that if the election results of LA-16 constituency of Bagh district were not issued immediately then there will be whirling storm.

She informed that Pakistan Peoples Party’s candidate for LA-32, Chakaar Ashfaq Zafar’s request had been approved by Election Commission for recounting of votes, who was declared unsuccessful candidate by a few hundred votes.

Marri added that PPP candidate Saud Sadiq for LA-19 Hajira constituency had also requested for recounting of votes and he was also defeated by a few hundred votes earlier. Ms Marri hoped that Pakistan Peoples Party’s candidates will be declared successful in recounting of votes in both constituencies LA-19 and LA-32.
