Kashmiri girl victims remembered at Pakistan HC in London

London, October 13, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Kashmiri girl victims of Indian atrocities were remembered at the Pakistan High Commission in London. Solidarity was also expressed with the Kashmiri people and a collective dua was offered by hundreds of people assembled at the High Commission.

The Pakistani High Commissioner to UK, Mohammad Nafees Zakaria, in his address on the occasion, reminded the audience of the plight of the people in occupied Kashmir, where over 8 million residents are under siege after the Indian government repealed special status of the territory on August 5.

Nafees Zakaria particularly mentioned the girl victims of rape, pellet guns, abduction and torture in the occupied territory. The High Commissioner apprised the people of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the territory and urged the international community to play role in ending the sufferings of the Kashmiri people. He said, it is important to be aware and create awareness about the human sufferings in occupied Kashmir.

Responding to media questions, he said, as the world community observed International Day of the Girl Child on October 11, it is important to remember the Kashmiri child girls, who are victims of pellet guns and other atrocities. It is imperative to think of their future and delivery of justice to them, he added.

The High Commissioner reminded of the Kunanposhpora mass rape of Kashmiri women in 1991 by the Indian forces personnel in which young Kashmiri girls were also the victims. As rightly noted in the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Office’s report of 14th June 2018, even after 28 years the victims are still waiting for justice, he pointed out.

On the occasion, exclusive photos of the Kashmiri girl victims of Indian state terrorism were displayed. The photos of victims, as documented by various international institutions and human rights organisations, helped visitors understand the gravity and magnitude of the human rights abuses in the occupied territory.
