Kashmiris to observe India’s Republic Day as Black Day tomorrow

Srinagar, January 25, 2023 (PPI-OT):Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over will observe India’s Republic Day, the 26th January, as Black Day, tomorrow, to impress upon the world to take notice of India’s continued denial of right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people. Call for the observance of the Black Day has been given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference.

The day will be marked by a complete strike in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and anti-India demonstrations and rallies in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan and world capitals to give a strong message to the world that India being usurper of Kashmiris’ fundamental rights has no right to observe the day in the occupied territory.

People through statements, massage and posters, by Sada-i-Mazloom, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Movement, Tehreek-e-Azadi Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Alliance, Jammu and Kashmir Political Resistance Movement and Youth Freedom Fighter in Srinagar, and others areas of the Valley asked to boycott all Indian official celebrations and hoist black flags on the rooftops of their houses, shops and other buildings. The posters continue to surface since last one week in different places of the territory.

Meanwhile, APHC leaders and organizations have said that India’s observance of its Republic Day is contrary to its claims of being a democratic country as it continues to deny this democratic right to the Kashmiris for the last over seven decades. APHC leader, Ghulam Nabi War, Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Jammu and Kashmir Young Men’s League and JK Students Youth Forum in their separate statements in Srinagar said India has no right to celebrate its Republic Day in IIOJK as it was holding the occupied territory against the will of the Kashmiri people. They appealed to world community to take cognizance of Indian state terrorism in IIOJK and force New Delhi to give the Kashmiris their right to self-determination.

APHC-AJK leader, Zahid Ashraf, in a statement issued in Islamabad described India’s celebration of its Republic Day in IIOJK as shameful and insulting to the free world fraternity as it continued to hold Kashmir and its inhabitants under its illegal occupation. He called upon the UN and the civilized world to come forward in a big way and force India to fulfill its commitments of settling the Kashmir dispute by implementing the relevant UN resolutions.
