LARKANA: After the reported success of the talks between the provincial health department and the Grand Health Alliance on continuation of risk allowance and other issues, the notification of the risk allowance could not be issued till the filing of this report but the health workers started their anti-polio administering drops campaign.
The Lady Health Workers (LHWs) continued their token strike on the call of their central leadership here on Tuesday and also performed their government duties by wearing black bands on their arms to register their protest demonstration. In this context, LHWs leaders Reshma Langah, Hasina Soomro, Benazir Channa and others said that after our continuous protests, only talks have been held in Karachi without issuing proper notification so far, so we on the call of our central leader Bushra Arain and keeping in view the precious lives of children in Sindh, token strike has been carried out and at the same time we are continuing the anti-polio campaign for the sake of saving children by wearing the black bands on our arms during performance of our legal and moral government duties for which we are less paid due to hurricane of price hike. They said that the token strike will continue until our demands are accepted and the notification is not issued.
Meanwhile, Health Department sources claimed that talks were held with the bosses in which the monthly risk allowance for medics and paramedics including LHWs has been reduced in Sindh owing to shortage of funds after severe pressure by the agitating health employees. These sources further said that a summary will be sent to the Chief Minister for approval after which proper notification will be issued in the next few days.
