Over 1,200 LLB degrees from more than a dozen law colleges affiliated with Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur have been declared fake or suspicious, raising a significant controversy in the academic and legal sectors.
A thorough investigation by the university reviewed records from 2014 to 2018 and revealed that several degrees were illegal. Following this revelation, lists have been issued for public verification, and degree holders have been asked to appear before a committee to verify their credentials.
Notable names are included among the affected individuals.
The investigative committee, after reviewing the records of the university and affiliated law colleges, has prepared a comprehensive list of these fake degrees. In response, the university syndicate has initiated steps to cancel the suspicious credentials.
Amidst these findings, demands are being made to the Sindh Bar Council to revoke the licenses of those who gained admission with these fake credentials. Legal experts support strict measures to maintain the integrity of the legal profession and ensure adherence to the rule of law.
