Local bodies election momentum intensifies in Larkana

LARKANA:In the run-up to the 26th June local bodies polls in Larkana’s 20 union committees (UCs), PPP and anti-PPP parties have flocked to the elections who have fielded their candidates. Politicians, various communities and social welfare bodies are in the field in support of the candidates and the flow of support to one another has intensified.

In this regard, the Larkana Awami Ittehad (LAI), led by former convener Late Haji Munawar Ali Abbasi, had won six UCs in the past. Despite the fact that the UCs have been kept the same 20 but their delimitation has been increased by breaking some Muhallas of eight UCs of the city which will increase the number of voters which has also increased hardships for the candidates as the candidates are offering condolences and convincing new voters to win the seats.

On the other hand, many forms of anti-PPP candidates were rejected by the government-appointed ROs, as the anti-PPP parties have been alleging, who knocked on the court for their rights and the court restored the forms of all anti-PPP candidates except for the three UCs which caused ripples over the aspirations of the unopposed elected PPP candidates who have now accelerated their work to contest elections with the opposing candidates.

Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) Central Secretary General and Larkana Awami Ittehad (LAI) convener, Dr. Safdar Ali Abbasi, spoke to the media on Tuesday saying that nomination forms of anti-PPP forces were deliberately rejected by PPP appointed ROs in Larkana, Ghotki, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze and different districts of Sindh but the courts granted justice for the opposing candidates and their forms have been restored which has led to the panic among the PPP leaders

He said that new constituencies of 20 UCs in Larkana city have been made but despite that candidates of the LAI and GDA are contesting against the PPP candidates. He alleged that the PPP leaders had launched personal attacks on LAI and the GDA leaders but we have so far used gentleman’s language adding if they did not stop using filthy language then they will be given a befitting reply which suits them the best. He said in response to a question that the PPP government had set up polling stations at the Otaq’s of Waderas so that it could be difficult for the opposition parties’ voters to cast votes but the GDA and LAI will make these conspiracies fail with the help of the people of Larkana.
