Locusts play havoc with Kohlu

Quetta:Attack of locust in many areas of Kohlu destroyed standing crops, leaving farmers with losses of millions of rupees.

The latest attack of locust destroyed standing crops of garlic, onion and chilli in Tamboo, Mawand, Munjrhra, Sufaid, Malikzai, Kalkani and Sinjhar areas of district Kohlu. Growers have expressed concern over latest breeding of generation of locust in different areas of Kohlu and demanded authorities of Agriculture Department for taking immediate action.

Talking to PPI, Saadullah Marri, Deputy Director Agriculture Extension Kohlu said that spray was being conducted for eliminating locust, but, he added that Agriculture Department lacks modern facilities. He said if resources were not immediately provided by the provincial government, the attack of locust will not only destroy standing crops but will also cause damage to natural pasturelands of Kohlu.
