Looting and thefts continues unchecked in Larkana

LARKANA: Unrest in Larkana could not be stopped; rather there was an increase in criminal offenses in the city. The criminals stole lakhs of rupees from a mobile phone shop and escaped unhurt and a mobile phone was also forcibly robbed from the lawyer here as reported on Saturday as the lawlessness continued to hit the hard-earned residents.

According to the report, unknown thieves broke the locks of Faheem Ahmed Sheikh’s mobile phone shop in the Niroli street of Resham Gali in the market police station limits of Larkana city. Seeing the lock of the shop, the owner of the shop informed the police, on which the cops reached to acquire details of the incident and started the investigation. In this regard, mobile shopkeeper Faheem Sheikh said that there have been many thefts from the Neroli street of famous Resham Gali because the two night watchmen leave at 9 pm instead of keeping watch all night.

He said that due to their sheer negligence, unknown thieves stole my mobile phone last night by breaking the locks of the shop and stole Rs408,000 cash and 16 mobile phones and escaped. He appealed to the DIG and SSP of Larkana to arrest the criminal gangs immediately who have ruined the peace of Larkanaians and provide justice by returning the money and mobile phones.

In another incident, armed robbers took lawyer Rafique Ahmad Abaro as a hostage and stole his mobile phone, in the limits of Dari police station. In this regard, Rafiq Abro told the journalists that last night, I was going home from my office, and on the way, unknown thugs stopped the road and took me hostages at gunpoint and stole the mobile phones and ran away. He urged the DIG Police and SSP to take notice of the matter, arrest the thieves and recover his mobile phone.

It must be mentioned here that various social welfare organizations have opined that until and unless cops who have stayed here more than the required period are not kicked out of the district, lawlessness will never end. They said criminal gangs are operating everywhere in the district with police support but their acts are not being reported by the mafia which need to be eliminated. They said looting and thefts are continuing unchecked in the district but the cops keep on claiming that they have established checkpoints everywhere.
