Lt. Gen Naravane Indian Army’s new Vice Chief

New Delhi, September 02, 2019 (PPI-OT):Lieutenant General MM Naravane has assumed charge as Vice Chief of the Indian Army. Lt. Gen. Naravane could be the next Army Chief as he will be the senior most Army Commander after incumbent General Bipin Rawat retires on December 31. Lt Gen Naravane succeeds Lt Gen D Anbu, who retired on Saturday. General Naravane is from the 7th Battalion of Sikh Light Infantry Regiment and was heading the Eastern Command.

Lt Gen Anil Chauhan, who was the Director General Military Operations (DGMO), took charge as the new Eastern Army Commander, while Lt Gen AS Kler took over the Jaipur-based South-Western Command. He replaced Lt Gen Cherish Matheson, who retired on August 31.
