Security forces killed nine dacoits and safely recovered eight hostages during a major joint operation in Ghotki district, according to a statement issued by Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) on Monday. Among the deceased were two notorious criminals, Hazara alias Lala Shaikhiani and Azan alias Chhulo, who had bounties of Rs. 5 million each placed on them by the Punjab Police.
The operation, a joint effort by Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and local police, was conducted in the Kross Bund Khan Garh Chowk area to target the Indhar, Lathani, Bakhrani, Shaikhiani, and Mazari gangs, among other criminal groups.
Detailing the events, a spokesperson said the action was a continuation of efforts initiated after armed criminals abducted 18 passengers from a Sada Bahar coach near Ubauro on the night of December 15. Those abductees were recovered in an earlier operation by the security forces.
The latest encounter occurred as members of the gang, including the notorious Abdullah Dashti, were attempting to flee their positions. The timely action by the joint security team resulted in the death of nine dacoits and left another 27 injured.
During raids on the hideouts of Tanveer Indhar, Chhulo Bakhrani, and Qabil Shaikhiani, authorities seized a large cache of heavy weaponry. The recovered arms include one 12.7 gun, one Light Machine Gun (LMG), one RR-75, two RPG-7s, four G-3 rifles, four SMGs, and a large quantity of ammunition, among other miscellaneous firearms.
In addition to the weapons, nine mobile phones and a Corolla car were also confiscated from the scene. All recovered individuals, seized weapons, and other recovered items have been handed over to the Somiani Police Station in Tehsil Rojhan for further legal proceedings.
Sindh Rangers has appealed to the public to assist in the elimination of criminal elements by providing information about individuals sheltering dacoits. Citizens can report confidentially to the Rangers Helpline 1101 or the Madadgar WhatsApp number 03479001111.
