Malik seeks release of Kashmiri detainees before Eid

Srinagar, June 13, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, has demanded immediate release of all illegal detained Kashmiris languishing in different jails so that they are able to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their families. Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement in Srinagar said that the occupied territory had been turned into a police state where every voice of dissent was being curbed and crushed with military and police might.

He said that thousands of Kashmiris were languishing in different Indian jails like Tihar and various prisons of Jammu region of occupied Kashmir like Amphala, Jammu, Udhampur, Hiranagar, Kathua and Kot Bhalwal. “From 14-year-old adolescents to eighty-year-old men to ailing women are facing wrath in jails and on a daily basis many more are being arrested and put behind the bars,” he said. He pointed out that the Indian government was using brute force to halt the Kashmiris’ march to freedom but failed to succeed in its nefarious designs.

“Today we have many including resistance leaders Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Shahid-ul-Islam, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Farooq Ahmed Dar languishing in Tihar Jail who were actually abducted by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) and shifted to Tihar Jail under frivolous and concocted charges. Every evil tactic is being employed by India to prolong their incarceration and miseries,” Yasin Malik said.

Similarly, he said, dozens of inmates including Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Dr Shafi Shariati, Ghulam Qadir Butt, Nazir Ahmed Sheikh, Showkat Ahmed Khan, Abdul Ghani Goni, Lateef Ahmed Waja, Javed Ahmed Khan, Mehmood Topi Wala, Iftikhar Mirza, Feroz Ahmed, Parvaiz Ahmed, Tariq Ahmed, Manzoor Ahmed, Muhammad Aslam Wani, Muzaffar Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Ayoub Dar, Muhammad Ayoub Mir, Mirza Nisar Hussain and many more are in jails facing life sentence. “Many of these lifers have been shifted to hundreds of kilometers away from their home in Jammu and Indian jails to add up to their hardships,” he added.

The JKLF Chief said, there are many including Masarrat Aalam Butt, Sirajuddin Mir, Abdul Rasheed Magloo, Mir Hafeezullah, Muhammad Yousuf Falahi, Ameer Hamza, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Tariq Ahmed Dar, Maulana Sarjan Barkati, Assadullah Parray, Showkat Hakim, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Farooq Towheedi, Ali Muhammad Butt, Muhammad Yousuf, Shakeel Ahmed Butt, Abdul Ghani and Muhammad Subhan Wani who are in jail under black law Public Safety Act (PSA) or other fake charges.

Yasin Malik added that there were many more who were arrested on fictitious charges were facing the wrath of police in various police stations. Ailing women leader, Aasiya Andrabi, and her associates, Fehmeeda Sofi and Naheeda Nasreen, are being penalized by the police from many days shamelessly, he deplored.
