March against delay in construction of Nasirabad Hospital and shortage of staff and medicines in Rural Health Center

In Nasirabad, residents took to the streets for the 41st consecutive day to demand the swift construction of the Taluka Hospital and to condemn the contractor who allegedly embezzled millions of rupees.

Organized by the Conscious Citizens’ Alliance ), today’s demonstration under the banner “Build the Taluka Hospital, End the Shortage of Doctors and Medicines” included a short march and later a sit-in at Goth Hamzo Bhatti.

The purpose of this protest is to compel the authorities to start work on the hospital as promised and to address the continuous shortage of medical staff, medicines, and treatment facilities at the existing rural health center.

A large number of local elders, youth, and residents participated in the procession, who chanted strong slogans against the Sindh Government, the Health Department, and their elected representatives. The march culminated in a sit-in at the village’s main square.

Addressing the gathering, the alliance’s leaders including Sufi Ghaffar Channa, Comrade Asif Kathio, Ikhtiar Ganwas, and Bashir Kalhori described the situation as the “height of failure and insensitivity.” They said that a contractor committed “mega corruption,” embezzled the project funds, and is now living a life of luxury while the authorities are failing to take any action.

The leaders reiterated their resolve that the people of Taluka Nasirabad will not accept anything less than the start of the hospital’s construction and the complete provision of medical facilities in the rural health center.

They announced that the protest movement would continue indefinitely until their demands are met.
