KARACHI: Pakistani artist Marium Agha received the Public Vote Prize at the 2022 Sovereign Asian Art Prize.
Marium Agha and Ayesha Qureshi from Karachi city of Pakistan were shortlisted as finalists for Hong Kong based Sovereign Asian Art Prize for 2022. They were nominated by Pakistani art critic Amra Ali.
Selected from over 400 entries, the 30 finalists hail from 16 countries and regions across Asia-Pacific and had strong representation from China, Iran, Singapore, and Vietnam. The shortlist artists exhibited their work at Art Central of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 26-29 May 2022.
The prize, which aims to increase the international exposure of artists in Asia-Pacific, will also raise funds to bring the therapeutic benefits of art to disadvantaged children in Hong Kong through artwork sales.
