Karachi, January 30, 2018 (PPI-OT): Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar said has taken strict of digging on green belts and central island by different organizations/departments and leaving the site as it is after completion of works within the remit of KMC and made this mandatory for any organization/department to obtain the prior permission from the Parks and Horticulture Department of KMC before digging the green belt or central island for any purpose.
He said the permit holder will have to make payment of the cost of refilling the trenches/pits and also relay the lawn and spreading of manure, levelling and dressing with shifting of plants/trees coming in alignment of the work. Mayor Karachi said that a number of organizations/departments are busy in digging the green belts/central islands causing heavy damage to the horticulture work/trees herbs shrubs etc.
which amounts interference in smooth functioning of Parks and Horticulture Department of KMC as after completion of their work these departments/organizations left the raw material, debris, earth on the sites which gives bad outlook and adversely reflects /creating hindrance and the parks department has to remove defects from its own resources therefore the Parks and Horticulture Department will henceforth issue the permission for such work. Mayor Karachi said the trees and greenery is essential for any city as it protects from air pollution and adds to the beauty of city roads and central islands. No organization or department should do any such thing that can affect the beauty of the city.
