Media students are expected to work as peace ambassadors, PPC will continue its engagement with the students of media studies to help develop their professional skills, CEO PPC

Islamabad, November 13, 2019 (PPI-OT): The three-day capacity building workshop titled “Advance Training for Media students on CVE Media Product Development, concluded here today. This workshop has been organized by Pakistan Peace Collective (PPC), a research and communication project of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (M/O I and B) aiming to provide refined professional media product development skills to media students from various universities of the country, with a deeper understanding of the role of media in countering violent extremism. Mr. Shabbir Anwar, CEO, PPC while addressing the participants, said PPC have successfully trained more than 200 media students from Twenty-Five (25) universities nationwide since the initiation of PurAzm Pakistan’s training programs.

The present batch comprising 21 participants he said includes those students who had made their mark in the earlier regional training and have been selected for this advance-training workshop. Media Students are expected to work as Peace Ambassadors and PPC will continue its engagement with the students of media studies to help develop their professional skills, CEO PPC. The training will produce skilled journalists who will be able to play a positive and professional role while working in the field. Not only this, PPC will also engage media students for the production of documentaries for the project.

Mr. Kamran Butt, Faculty National College of Arts (NCA), Dr. Mowadat Rana Chief Editor, Journal of Pakistan Psychiatric Society, Chairman, The Healing Triad, Mr. Haroon Rashid and Mr. Zafar Syed from Independent Urdu, Mr. Faizan Gul, Mr. Akmal Khan and Mr. Usman Zafar and Mr. Burhan ul Haq from PPC delivered lectures to the participants regarding the CVE based documentary production techniques includes, scripting, planning, casting, camera work and editing. They also apprised the participants on means to help develop the skills for short documentary production. Participants to the training were from all over the Pakistan representing their respective regions, including Quetta, Swat, Malakand, Gujrat, Bahawalpur, Lahore, Jamshoro, Dera Ismail Khan, Karachi and Islamabad.
