Minister for enhancing allocation on healthcare sector

Islamabad, September 24, 2018 (PPI-OT): The Federal Minister for National Health Services regulations and Coordination, Aamer Mehmood Kiani expressed his gratitude to the President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi, for patronizing the Ministry of health and research in the country. He also congratulated Pakistan Health Research Council for promoting the research despite having meagre allocations and termed this event as an important landmark in the history of research in the country.

While he was addressing” the 1st Annual Health Research Conference was organized by Pakistan Health Research Council (PHRC) today in Islamabad. Federal Health Minister said that unfortunately in the last 70 years health has not been given the attention it deserves. There is critical need to enhance the allocation of the health sector if we are to provide access to quality health care to all people. The Secretary Ministry of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination earlier in his welcome address expressed his gratitude for gracing this occasion at the highest level.

He stated that the country has enormous potential if the platform is available as to this first Conference call overwhelming response was received from researcher’s community in the country. Conference is poised to become a trend setter for others to emulate and therefore play role in generating the evidence for translating into policies. It was also told that 250 original research studies will be shared in two days conference.

Speaking on occasion Dr Faisal Sultan a renowned Infectious Diseases expert reiterated that to promoting research and making targeted efforts is key to attain our international commitments in the form of Sustainable Development Goals 2030; He expressed his hope as the President’s presence at Health Research Conference is a great encouragement that will promote research and thus health in our country.
