Mirpurkhas Flower Show preparations underway, committees formed, focal person appointed

Municipal authorities have initiated a comprehensive organizational overhaul for the city’s 68th annual flower exhibition, establishing new committees and appointing a focal person to ensure the event surpasses previous editions in its management and public appeal.

At a high-level meeting held at the Municipal Corporation Secretariat on Wednesday, Mayor Abdul Rauf Ghauri described the flower show as the city’s true identity, stressing the need to preserve its historical and cultural significance. He affirmed that this year’s event will be organized more effectively and in a better manner.

The Mayor highlighted the exhibition’s unique status across the Sindh province and appealed for joint efforts from all relevant departments and agencies for its success. To facilitate this, he announced that several sub-committees have been formed to diligently carry out their assigned responsibilities.

In a significant step to enhance oversight, it was agreed that a new 5-member committee, co-chaired by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor Sameera Baloch, will be formed for the superior organization of the festival.

During the meeting, Flower Show Secretary Muhammad Nawaz Khan assured that all sub-committees will perform their duties effectively. A proposal was also made to officially name this year’s event the “68th Jashn-e-Baharan Flower Exhibition.”

To further streamline operations, the Municipal Corporation has appointed Aurangzeb Mughal as the focal person for the exhibition. He will be responsible for overseeing all administrative matters related to the preparation and execution of the event.

The planning meeting was attended by several high-ranking officials including Additional Deputy Commissioner-II Faisal Ali Soomro, Chief Municipal Commissioner Anis-ur-Rehman Sial, Director Floriculture Horticulture Research Shafiq-ur-Rehman Memon, and representatives from the education and agriculture sectors.
