Srinagar, April 04, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat forum terming the upcoming so-called Indian Parliamentary elections in the territory as a futile exercise has urged the people to stay away from the polling process as it can in no way help in resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
The Hurriyat forum in a statement in Srinagar reiterated that the lingering Kashmir dispute is a political and human issue that needs to be resolved in its historical perspective for ensuring lasting peace in the entire region. It said that the Kashmiri people and the resistance leadership had repeatedly been urging New Delhi to resolve the dispute through dialogue among the stakeholders, India, Pakistan and the people of Kashmir, but after the Pulwama incident, the Indian repression in the occupied territory had intensified. It pointed out that occupied Kashmir had been converted into a military garrison and an atmosphere of fear created to intimidate the people into submission.
Meanwhile, Indian police arrested nine youth from Shopian and another from Srinagar. Two minor boys, Muhammad Ramzan and Faizan, both brothers, have been missing from their residence in Kuchaal area of Kishtwar district of Jammu region since Wednesday.
Indian troops continued cordon and search operations in different areas of Tral, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, Bijbehara, Bandipora, Hajin, Kupwara, Sopore, Rafiabad and several other areas of the occupied territory.
The occupation authorities have announced that there shall be no movement of civilian traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway for Sunday and Wednesday, every week due to the movement of Indian forces’ personnel from Srinagar to Jammu. People from various walks of life including Hurriyat forum Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while strongly reacting to the decision said besides general masses it would cause immense problems and distress for students, employees and patients.
On the other hand, the Indian authorities stopped and sent back from Wagah-Attari border a woman from Azad Jammu and Kashmir who married to a resident of occupied Kashmir and was coming to Pakistan to meet her parents.
A man of the panchayat was killed after he was fired upon by unidentified gunmen at Shalipora in Katrasoo area of Kulgam district. Two Indian Air Force officers including a squadron leader were killed and two others injured in a road accident at Malangpora in Awantipora area of Pulwama district, today.
