Modern surveillance cameras installed under Safe City Project in Sukkur, Quick Action Force established

Authorities have launched a major public safety program under the Sukkur Safe City Project, which will install 160 high-resolution surveillance cameras and establish a special Quick Action Force to ensure immediate response in emergencies.

The project’s foundation stone was laid on Wednesday by Mayor and Sindh Government Spokesperson, Barrister Arsalan Islam Sheikh, along with SSP Sukkur Azhar Khan Mughal. This initiative aims to establish peace, deter criminal activities, and protect the lives and property of residents within the jurisdiction of the Sukkur Municipal Corporation.

Mayor Sheikh described the project as a “historic step” towards transforming Sukkur into a safe and smart city. He said the new system will align the city with modern technology, enabling live monitoring of crime, enforcement of traffic laws, and immediate action in emergency situations.

SSP Mughal detailed the first phase, explaining that 8 to 12-megapixel cameras are being installed at sensitive, busy, and important locations. A modern control room is being established at the SSP office for live monitoring of all cameras. He also confirmed the formation of the Quick Action Force, which will be deployed immediately to assist citizens and support the existing “15” helpline.

Future plans for the program include implementing an electronic challan system similar to the one operating in Karachi and installing modern traffic signals to provide organized and convenient travel facilities for citizens.

Both officials appealed to the public to fully cooperate with the administration and law enforcement agencies to make this comprehensive new system a success.
