More than 25 heat relief camps established across Sindh, providing cold water, ORS, beverages, and first aid

In view of the dangerous heatwave alert, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority has launched an extensive network of more than 25 heat relief camps across Sindh. These camps, established in collaboration with district administrations and the Sindh Emergency Rescue Service (Rescue 1122), aim to protect citizens from the severe effects of the ongoing heatwave.

Under the guidance of the Chief Minister’s Advisor Gianchand Israni, relief efforts starting today are spread across several districts, including Karachi, Hyderabad, and Larkana, providing essential services to over a thousand residents daily. Key locations in Karachi, such as Sakhi Hassan Chowrangi and the railway station, have been equipped with special heat relief points to provide immediate assistance.

In these camps, citizens are provided with essential items such as cold water, ORS, beverages, and first aid. Additionally, the public is informed about preventive measures against heatstroke, which is a significant health risk during such extreme weather conditions. For those severely affected, medical assistance is available on-site, with the facility for hospital transfers if necessary.

Following Gianchand Israni’s instructions, districts have been placed on high alert, ensuring the preparedness of fire and rescue, emergency medical, and ambulance services. A central command and control unit is actively monitoring to ensure an effective response to the situation.

Israni has urged citizens to reduce sun exposure, maintain hydration, and pay special attention to vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly. In emergencies, the public is encouraged to contact the Rescue 1122 helpline, which is committed to providing prompt assistance during the heatwave crisis.
