Names of major IOK places, institutions to get Hindu names

Srinagar, November 12, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, with unilateral declaration of occupied Jammu and Kashmir as union territory (UT) by India, New Delhi is planning to change the names of significant buildings, hospitals, airports and cricket stadiums after RSS and BJP leaders in the territory.

Regardless of the latter’s pro-India tilt, all these places or institutions will be renamed after Sardar Patel and other BJP founders. Discussion in this regard is on and the final call is expected by November 15, a senior official told media.

All the places or institutions including International Convention Centre, Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar Park Cricket Stadium and Indoor Stadium, which were prefixed as Sher-e-Kashmir, are get new names after extremist Hindu leaders.

The 11.5 kilometre Chenani-Nashri tunnel on Srinagar-Jammu national highway has already been named as Shamya Prasad Mukherjee tunnel. A senior BJP leader disclosed that renaming places and institutions with Sardar Patel was a long demand of the party.
