Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi today ordered the immediate and uncompensated demolition of all illegal encroachments at the proposed site for a new international convention centre near the Bhara Kahu Bypass.
During an inspection of the location, the interior minister instructed authorities to take strict and indiscriminate legal action against individuals unlawfully occupying the land, mandating the razing of all unauthorised buildings.
The minister”s visit and subsequent directives follow a decision, issued on the instructions of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, to construct a modern, international-standard facility in the capital city.
Mr Naqvi stated that a key government objective is to provide world-class facilities in Islamabad. He emphasised that the project”s completion would enhance Pakistan”s capacity to host major international gatherings, such as the SCO Summit and other global conferences.
Accompanying the minister during the site evaluation were Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon, and other senior officials.
