National Voters’ Day observed across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The National Voters’ Day was observed across the country on Wednesday, to highlight the importance of vote and to encourage people, especially youth and women, to participate in the electoral process.

The day is marked in commemoration of the first general elections in Pakistan held on this day in 1970. The main event of the National Voters’ Day was held at the premises of Election Commission of Pakistan in Islamabad, which was addressed by the Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.

Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT), and other organizations also organized seminars and awareness campaigns to observe the Day in a befitting manner.
