Need stressed to resolve problems facing Sindh’s industries

KARACHI: Nowadays, no country can materialize its dream of development without achieving industrial development. The work is being done on the promotion of industries in Sindh province, but there is still need to resolve problems facing the industries, according to a report on Wednesday.

The industrial zones of the province are facing load shedding, encroachment, drainage, gas and other problems, some of them are related to the province and some are related to the federal government, which needs to be resolved as soon as possible.

In the past two years, the industrial development had to face lot of difficulties due to the coronavirus. In order to deal with this difficult situation and to keep the factory workers safe from the virus, the senior officers of the Sindh Department of Commerce and Industries have been in constant contact with the factory owners and vaccination centers in large industrial units to facilitate the vaccination of the factory workers for the corona virus were established so that factory workers can get vaccinated easily.

Improvement of infrastructure in industrial areas has been among the top priorities of Sindh government. It is an undeniable fact that until the infrastructure in the industrial zones is improved, there will be difficulties in the movement of industrial goods. Considering this situation, Sindh government has completed 25 kilometers of roads under 17 projects at a cost of one billion rupees in the site areas.

The construction of these roads in the site areas has greatly improved the infrastructure. Moreover, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has released another 30 crore rupees for the improvement of infrastructure in the site areas and with the help of this money, more development projects will be completed. Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has desired that a true industrial revolution takes place in Sindh.

To fulfill this dream, Larkana Industrial Estate has been inaugurated under the leadership of Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Jam Ikramullah Dharejo. With which the residents of Larkana and its surrounding areas will get employment opportunities at their doorstep. It should be noted that after the Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Jam Ikramullah Dharejo took over the portfolio of the ministry, there has been an increase in industrial development in Sindh province and as a result of the efforts of the Provincial Minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, the confidence of industrialists on the government of Sindh has increased many folds.

Apart from this, an industrial estate is also being established in Dhabiji. Paperwork for setting up an industrial estate is also being completed in Ghotki district. The establishment of industries in the less developed districts of Sindh will also reduce the pressure on Karachi for employment. To dispose off, industrial polluted water is a big problem.

The government of Sindh is serious in solving the problems of industrial zones. Sindh Industries and Commerce Department is installing 5 treatment plants in Federal B Area, Super Highway, Site, Landhi, Korangi and Lyari at a cost of 12 billion rupees with the support of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board to solve this problem on priority basis.

The industrial zones of the province are facing load shedding, encroachment, drainage, gas and other problems, some of them are related to the province and some are related to the federal government. The previous federal government discriminated against Sindh and subjected the province to gas and electricity load-shedding, which caused the industries to decline, but the change of government in the federal government has improved the situation in the industrial zones of Sindh province and hopefully, the wheel of industrial growth will continue.
