Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has approved the Sindh Safe Cities Authority (Amendment) Bill 2025, enacting legislation that immediately expands the mandate for technological surveillance to enhance security across the province.

According to a statement issued today, the bill, which received the governor’s assent under Article 116 of the Constitution of Pakistan, has come into force with immediate effect, aiming to make the systems for urban security and public order more robust and efficient.

Under the amended law, the authority’s role in employing modern technology for surveillance is set to be significantly broadened. This expansion is designed to improve crime prevention, facilitate timely monitoring of illegal activities, and ultimately ensure greater public safety.

In a statement on the occasion, Governor Tessori affirmed that the protection of citizens’ life and property remains the government”s paramount priority. He added that aligning the Sindh Safe Cities Authority with modern requirements will lead to a substantial improvement in the law and order situation.
