Following the prediction of a new spell of rain in Karachi in the next 24 to 48 hours, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has issued a high alert in the city. Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah confirmed the weather situation and emphasized the need for immediate action.
The Commissioner of Karachi conveyed the Chief Secretary’s instructions to the district and municipal authorities, emphasizing their presence on the ground to assist the public. All Deputy Commissioners and municipal officials should prepare for the expected rain.
The Commissioner directed Assistant Commissioners and Municipal Commissioners to immediately inspect the drains and rainwater drainage systems. He stressed the importance of public convenience and directed them to arrange the necessary equipment for water drainage.
To avoid traffic jams, the commissioner appealed to the traffic police to maintain the flow of vehicles. Furthermore, the commissioner confirmed that the machinery provided by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) should be ready for water drainage. The Chief Secretary reviewed these preparations from the control room of the Commissioner’s office.
