Srinagar, July 09, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the International Forum for Justice Human Rights JK (IFJHRJK) has said that the authorities have not executed an inquiry into the killings of 2016 mass, which was triggered by the extrajudicial killing of Burhan Wani in the territory. The IFJHRJK Chairman, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo in a report said that during the uprising the Indian forces showered pellets on the protesters leading to pellet injuries to 8,753 among who 439 lost eyesight in one eye while 301 lost eyesight in both eyes.
He said that besides over 100 people were killed in the Indian forces’ firing in the Kashmir valley. He added that many of the injured were not even part of the protests but were still shot at from very close range by the Indian forces’ personnel. Muhammad Ahsan Untoo said that in a petition filed by him, the then Human Rights Commission of the territory had directed the authorities through chief secretary to respond to the petition.
Besides, during the uprising, 7,944 injuries were reported among the masses including injuries in legs, arms, abdomen, etc, over six thousand were arrested, public property was destroyed, while shops and houses were burnt, he added. Untoo urged the international human rights organizations to impress upon the India to ensure that the killings and other rights violations be probed impartially.
