OIC condemns Israeli approval for construction of 2,200 settlement units

Jeddah The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the Israeli occupation authorities’ approval for the construction of 2,200 new settlement units.

The Organization stressed that the building of new housing units constitutes an extension of Israel’s policies based on colonialism, apartheid, ethnic cleansing and violation of the rights of the Palestinian people.

OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen underscored that the continued construction and expansion of Israeli settlements is a flagrant violation of international law and the relevant United Nations conventions and resolutions. He called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to assume their responsibilities and take concrete measures to completely halt the Israeli settlement policy in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including the city of Jerusalem.
