On the direction of IG Punjab Shoaib Dastagir, actions are underway for the violation of SOPs to contain Corona Pandemic

Lahore, June 27, 2020 (PPI-OT): Inspector General of Police Punjab Shoaib Dastgir said that in order to minimize the spread of Corona, officers and officials in all districts of the province should perform their duties with more diligence and passion than before and ensure strict implementation of instructions and precautions issued by the Punjab Govt. He further said that special attention should be paid to the compliance of SOPs in the areas sealed by the Punjab government regarding smart lockdown so that the spread of the epidemic virus could be minimized and all possible protection could be provided to the precious lives of the citizens.

He further said that actions should be continued in all the districts of the province at markets, bazaars and other public places in collaboration with other concerned departments and the violating citizens should be made to believe that observing the precautions and following the SOPs is in their benefit. He expressed these views while talking to the officers at a meeting held at central Police office Lahore.

During the meeting IGP Shoaib Dastgir was briefed that during the ongoing operation started from 6th June, a total of 109583 shops have been checked in the markets and bazaars across the province so far in which 12387 have been sealed and closed for violations. 139858 motorcycles, 45684 vehicles and 27443 public transport vehicles were checked out of which 51410 vehicles, motorcycles and transport vehicles were fined by the Civil Administration for violating the instructions. Similarly, regarding the observance of SOPs, 178733 citizens were stopped for checking the violation was fined to 9541 by the Civil Administration.

Regarding the details of the operations that took place yesterday, IG Punjab was informed that on June 22, 5379 shops were inspected across the province and 771 shops were sealed and closed for violation of SOPs. Similarly, 6491 motorcycles, 2188 vehicles and 1759 public transport vehicles were also checked and 3425 vehicles, motorcycles and vehicles were fined by the Civil Administration for violating SOPs. A total of 6396 citizens were checked and 747 violators were fined by the civil Administration.

IG Punjab Shoaib Dastgir directed the Regional and District Police Officers to expedite the operations on violation of SOPs and stressed that a report on police operations should be sent to the Central Police Office on daily basis. Officers and officials on field duty should ensure that the precautionary measures against corona virus are implemented in all cases so that they can protect themselves from the contagious disease and perform their duty of protection and service to the citizens in the best possible way.
