The “Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir” has expressed serious concern over the continuous illegal detention of Hurriyat leaders and activists, demanding their immediate release.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a spokesperson for Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir stated in Srinagar that currently over 5,000 Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders and activists, are imprisoned in the occupied territory and Indian jails, deprived of all basic facilities, including medical care.
He mentioned that many detainees have developed various ailments, and their health has critically deteriorated. The spokesperson further stated that India has been inflicting severe oppression on Kashmiris for the past 77 years to suppress their spirit of freedom. He asserted that Kashmiris will not withdraw their demand for the right to self-determination under any circumstances. He called on international human rights organizations to take note of the plight of Kashmiri detainees and play a role in securing their release.
