Pakistan and Turkiye Sign Key Mining Agreements, Deepen Energy Cooperation

Pakistan and Turkiye today solidified their economic partnership through the exchange of new memorandums of understanding and agreements in the mining sector, marking a significant step in broadening bilateral cooperation.

The development came during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Trkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction that Turkish Petroleum has officially commenced both offshore and onshore exploration activities in Pakistan, a move he described as a major milestone in the nations” energy alliance.

Highlighting the historic and fraternal ties between the two countries, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan”s commitment to strengthening its relationship with Turkiye, with a particular focus on the energy, petroleum, and mineral industries.

In an effort to bolster this growing collaboration, Sharif extended an invitation for Turkish companies to increase their investment footprint within Pakistan”s energy market.

The leaders acknowledged the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, with the Prime Minister fondly recalling his numerous interactions with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan this year. He stressed the importance of close coordination between the two governments in response to a rapidly evolving regional and global environment.

To further advance the strategic partnership, it was agreed that a Pakistani ministerial delegation will visit Turkiye in the near future. The visit aims to explore additional avenues for cooperation, especially within the energy and power sectors.
