The National Selection Committee today revealed split captaincy for Pakistan’s upcoming white-ball fixtures, with Salman Ali Agha set to lead the T20I side and Shaheen Shah Afridi taking charge of the ODI team, in a major announcement that also sees the return of star players Babar Azam and Naseem Shah to both formats.
According to a report by Pakistan Cricket Board today, a 15-member T20I roster has been unveiled for the forthcoming series against South Africa and a tri-series also involving Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. The lineup marks a significant comeback for Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, and Abdul Samad, who were absent from previous events. The team also features Usman Tariq as the only uncapped player.
For the one-day international format, a separate 16-man squad was selected for series against South Africa and Sri Lanka. This group sees the re-entry of Faisal Akram, pace bowler Haris Rauf, and batsman Haseebullah into the national setup.
Pakistan”s busy home season begins with a three-match T20I contest against South Africa, currently playing a Test in Rawalpindi. The T20I matches are scheduled for 28 October, 31 October, and 1 November in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
Following the shortest format, the two teams will compete in a three-match ODI series at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad from 4 to 8 November.
Immediately after, Pakistan will host Sri Lanka for another three-match ODI series at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from 11 to 15 November. The cricketing action culminates with a T20I tri-series from 17 to 29 November, with the final to be held in Lahore.
