Pakistan and Australia are set to clash in a crucial three-match Twenty20 International series at the end of this month, with both nations finalising their preparations for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2026, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed on Tuesday.
According to a report today, the entire series will be contested at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, with matches scheduled for Thursday, 29 January, Saturday, 31 January, and Sunday, 1 February. The visiting Australian squad is expected to arrive in the city on Wednesday, 28 January.
For all three encounters, the coin toss is scheduled for 5:30 pm Pakistan Standard Time (PKT), with the first delivery anticipated at 6:00 pm PKT.
The series is considered vital preparation for the global tournament, where Pakistan is placed in Group A and Australia in Group B.
This tour marks Australia”s third visit to Pakistan in recent years, following their multi-format tour in March-April 2022 and their participation in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 matches held in the country.
The Australian side will return to a venue where they secured a narrow three-wicket victory in the solitary T20I played on 5 April 2022.
Sumair Ahmed Syed, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the PCB, expressed enthusiasm for the series, describing the tour as a “blockbuster beginning of the year for Pakistan Cricket fans.”
He encouraged spectators to attend in large numbers to support both sides “as they put final touches to their T20 World Cup preparations.”
The COO also noted that the Gaddafi Stadium has become a “familiar sight” for the Australian team, given their recent fixtures at the ground which include a Test, five ODIs, and a T20I since March 2022.
