Pakistan has expressed strong optimism for Saudi Arabia’s potential membership in the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference (ISC) as high-level international delegations began arriving in the capital on Monday for the upcoming global assembly. The development emerged as Ms. Misbah Khar, Advisor to the Chairman Senate, formally greeted the Saudi contingent ahead of the significant diplomatic gathering.
During the reception, Ms. Khar, who also serves as Ambassador to the ISC, emphasized the deep-rooted and longstanding relations between Pakistan and the Kingdom. She noted that a shared vision for global peace, constructive dialogue, and sustainable development forms a common ground for the two nations, setting a positive stage for Saudi Arabia’s prospective entry into the parliamentary body.
In a series of subsequent engagements, Ms. Khar met with H.E. Mr. Lancen Haddad, the Vice President of Morocco. She commended Morocco’s unwavering participation and constructive role within the ISC. In response, Vice President Haddad lauded Pakistan’s initiative in organizing the forum and reaffirmed his nation’s commitment to reinforcing inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The Liberian delegation, led by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Richard Nagbe Koon, was also officially received. Ms. Khar underscored Pakistan’s dedication to cultivating collaboration among parliaments, founded on principles of tranquility and mutual respect. Speaker Koon acknowledged Pakistan’s leadership and confirmed Liberia’s readiness to actively contribute to the ISC’s global mission.
Further discussions were held with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Mr. Alisher Tukhtaev, and his accompanying officials. Ms. Khar recognized Uzbekistan’s valued involvement in the forum. Both sides affirmed their mutual intention to bolster cooperation through future Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and joint development projects.
