Pakistan Poised to Finalise Landmark Labour Agreement with Kuwait

Pakistan is ready to sign a proposed Labour Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kuwait, with the significant accord potentially being finalised during the forthcoming visit of the Kuwaiti Crown Prince, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain confirmed on Monday.

The announcement came following a meeting between Minister Hussain and Her Excellency Rabab Abdullah Al-Osaimi, Director-General of Kuwait's Public Authority for Manpower (PAM). The discussions, held in Dubai on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Dialogue 2026, centred on enhancing cooperation in the labour sector between the two nations.

During the talks, the Pakistani delegation formally requested access to the PAM online portal for its workers and overseas employment promoters, a measure intended to facilitate a smoother recruitment process. The two sides also reviewed the positive results of recent high-level exchanges and acknowledged the constructive response from Kuwaiti authorities on related matters.

Minister Hussain emphasised the historical contributions of the Pakistani workforce to Kuwait’s development. He stated that Pakistani workers continue to possess the necessary skills and capacity to meet the Gulf state's future requirements, particularly in infrastructure and other key industries.

Reaffirming a commitment to deepen collaboration, both parties agreed to institutionalise regular mutual consultations and engagements. The Federal Minister also extended a formal invitation to the Kuwaiti delegation to visit Pakistan to continue the dialogue.
