In a strong response to recent allegations, Pakistan has dismissed claims made by a senior Indian Army officer that it attempted to target the Golden Temple with drones and missiles on the night of May 78, 2025.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement on Tuesday asserted the country’s respect for all places of worship, emphasizing that such accusations are unfounded.
The spokesperson clarified, “We categorically reject the allegations. We hold all places of worship in the highest esteem and cannot think of targeting a holy site like the Golden Temple.” The statement further highlighted an incident where India allegedly targeted places of worship in Pakistan on May 67, 2025, suggesting that these accusations are an attempt to divert attention from that event.
The spokesperson pointed out Pakistan’s role as the custodian of numerous Sikh holy sites and its annual welcome to thousands of Sikh pilgrims. Additionally, the visafree access provided to the Gurdwara Sahib Kartarpur through the Kartarpur Corridor was mentioned as a testament to Pakistan’s commitment to preserving and honoring places of worship. Any claims otherwise, the spokesperson noted, are baseless and incorrect.
