Pakistan thanked for observing Kashmir Solidarity Day

Srinagar, February 05, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, the Chairman of Hurriyat Forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and other Hurriyat leaders and organizations have expressed gratitude to the people, government and leadership of Pakistan for their unflinching support to the Kashmir cause.

Syed Ali Gilani in his message expressed gratitude to Pakistan, its people, leadership of Azad Kashmir and the people across the globe, who organized demonstrations, symposiums, seminars and rallies in favor of people of Kashmir for their right to self-determination and highlighted dispute and the gross human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.

He said people of Kashmir are challenging a big power and Pakistan is the only country that acknowledging their right to self-determination extends its persistent support to them. He said, “We are highly thankful to Pakistan for their categorical support and hope Pakistan will play more effective and active role in this regard. They should activate all its embassies and other human resources to highlight Kashmir issue and human rights violations in a more effective manner.”

The APHC Chairman appealed to the UN to put pressure on India to abide by the universal obligations and implement long-pending resolutions of the World Body on Kashmir to pave a way for permanent peace and prosperity in the region.

The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in his message on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, being observed by Pakistanis at home and across the world today, said that the people of Kashmir had always appreciated the support of Pakistan, at all levels, be it diplomatic, political or moral for the past seven decades, despite difficult and testing times for the country itself.

He also appreciated the government of Pakistan and its leadership who have always extended all possible support to the Kashmiris’ political movement for the resolution of Kashmir dispute. He said Pakistan, being one of the main parties to the Kashmir dispute, has always played a frontal role at both regional and international level in highlighting the suffering and grave human rights abuses of Kashmiris as well as presenting the Kashmir dispute in its historical context.

Hurriyat leaders, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, Imtiyaz Ahmed Reshi, Ghulam Nabi Wasim and Ghulam Nabi War in their statements thanked people and government of Pakistan for expressing solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir. They said the day has assumed historical importance in the resistance history of Kashmir because the way different programmes are being organized to educate international community about the historical background of Kashmir dispute and the heinous crimes and human rights abuses perpetuated by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir serve as an important catalyst to further the Kashmir cause.

Other Hurriyat leaders including Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Bilal Siddiqi Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo, Zafar Akbar Butt, Advocate Ayub Rathor, Wajahat Bashir Qureshi, Muhammad Shafi Lone, Firdous Ahmad Shah, Abdul Aziz Dar alias General Musa and the Chairman of the United Jihad Council, Syed Salahuddin, in their statements thanked Pakistan for expressing solidarity with the people of Pakistan and said that Kashmir dispute could only be resolved by implementing the relevant UN resolutions. They said sacrifices and efforts of Pakistan for settlement of the Kashmir dispute are unforgettable. They said, as an important party to the Kashmir dispute, Pakistan from day one has been advocating its settlement in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
