The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has embarked on an ambitious plan to revitalize the nation’s export sector, focusing on new markets and data-driven strategies.

At its 12th board meeting in Islamabad, chaired by Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, the TDAP board approved a comprehensive business plan for the 2025-26 fiscal year. The plan includes participation in over 120 international exhibitions, “Made in Pakistan” events in Ethiopia and Bangladesh, and domestic exhibitions and training programs nationwide. The board also sanctioned the development of enhanced facilities at TDAP”s regional offices in Quetta and Sialkot, including display centers, conference rooms, and IT accelerators, with a special focus on sports goods and surgical instruments in Sialkot.

Furthering its commitment to inclusivity, the board endorsed measures to boost the involvement of women entrepreneurs in global trade. Minister Khan emphasized the need to shift away from traditional export markets and explore emerging opportunities to diversify export avenues and reduce reliance on existing regions.

To strengthen strategic planning, Minister Khan suggested incorporating dedicated researchers within TDAP to conduct industry-specific analyses and provide evidence-based recommendations. He commended the ongoing restructuring of TDAP to align it with the evolving demands of international commerce. The meeting concluded with the approval of increased promotional backing for Pakistan”s trade missions abroad and the adoption of key recommendations from the TDAP Board”s sub-committees.
