Sixteen Pakistani businesses have, for the first time, secured authorisation to export seafood products to the Russian market, a development projected to significantly boost the nation”s annual export revenues from the sector by USD 300 million.
According to an official information today, Minister for Maritime Affairs, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, lauded this milestone, characterising it as a substantial breakthrough for Pakistan”s fisheries sector and a pivotal advancement for its aquaculture industry.
The Minister elucidated that gaining entry to the Russian Federation”s consumer base is expected to facilitate access to other member states within the Eurasian Economic Union, thereby further expanding Pakistan”s broader export capabilities.
Chaudhry indicated that, following this market penetration, Pakistan”s yearly marine product shipments are set to escalate from USD 500 million to USD 800 million.
He further confirmed that a combination of maritime, aerial, and terrestrial channels will be utilised for these consignments.
