Pakistani Health Minister Urges Chinese Firms to Set Up Production Units

Federal Minister for Health, Mustafa Kamal, has extended an invitation to Chinese pharmaceutical and medical device companies to invest in Pakistan by establishing production units.

Addressing the 2025 International Medical and Innovation Center (IMIC) in Fangchenggang city, Kamal emphasized Pakistan’s burgeoning healthcare sector and the government’s dedication to facilitating international investment.

Representing Pakistan at the IMIC forum, Minister Kamal delivered remarks during the main session of the opening ceremony. The forum attracted notable leaders including Ms. Shen Yueyue, Vice Chairperson of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and Mr. Chen Gang, Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee of the Communist Party of China. Senior leaders and delegates presented keynote addresses during the event.

After the inaugural ceremony, attendees toured an exhibition showcasing advanced medical devices and innovative healthcare technologies.

In his address, Kamal highlighted Pakistan’s initiatives to connect primary and secondary healthcare through telemedicine projects, stressing its importance in enabling timely diagnosis and disease prevention, especially in remote areas.

Kamal also introduced a new initiative to safeguard citizens’ medical records by integrating them with national identity cards through NADRA. He pointed out that this would improve the speed and accuracy of health data access, benefiting treatment and policy development.

Inviting Chinese firms to establish production units in Pakistan, Kamal highlighted the country’s commitment to promoting Traditional Chinese Medicine and assured that measures are in place to welcome and support foreign investors.

“The Government of Pakistan is fully committed to providing all necessary support and incentives to international investors in the health sector,” Kamal concluded.
