A Pakistani industry leader has been appointed to the prestigious Heimtextil Advisory Board for the first time, marking a significant milestone for the country’s textile sector as a large contingent of 287 exhibitors represents Pakistan at the global trade fair which commenced on Tuesday.
The international home and contract textiles exhibition, Heimtextil 2026, opened on 13 January under the theme Lead the Change. The event brings together over 3,100 exhibitors from 65 nations.
Pakistan’s substantial delegation of 287 firms is supported by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). Among the prominent companies present are Gul Ahmed, Al-Karam, Lucky Textiles, Nishat, and Sapphire.
In a notable development for the nation”s textile industry, Mr Zaki Bashir, CEO of Gul Ahmed Textile Mills, was named a member of the Heimtextil Advisory Board, the first time a Pakistani business leader has received this recognition.
The Carpet and Rugs section is a key feature of the exhibition, where Pakistan”s weaving heritage is being displayed by TDAP and 10 participating companies, including Everest Export Corporation, SBR Enterprises, and Khyber Weavers International.
Pakistani participants reported a positive start to the event, noting high visitor numbers and strong buyer interest on the opening day.
Mr Ali Monnoo, Executive Director of Samira Fabrics, commented that ‘the first day provided a strong platform for Pakistani exhibitors to connect with global buyers, explore new opportunities, and showcase the country’s textile expertise.’
Similarly, Mr Muzzamil Qureshi, Sales and Marketing Manager at Kamal Textiles, stated that a ‘strong start at Heimtextil 2026 reflects growing confidence in innovative textile solutions and sets high expectations for the days ahead.’
Mr Moin A Razzaq, Director of Hasham Towel, observed that the opening day began with remarkable energy, witnessing strong footfall and vibrant engagement from buyers and industry leaders alike.
The exhibition is anticipated to maintain its momentum, serving as an influential platform for networking, trend discovery, and establishing connections within the global industry.
