Pakistan’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector has emerged as the largest exporter of services, with remittances reaching $2.61 billion during the first seven months of the fiscal year 2025-26, a significant increase of 19.78%.
Federal Minister for IT Shaza Fatima said on the social networking site X on Wednesday that this impressive performance from July 2025 to January 2026 is a substantial increase compared to the $2.18 billion recorded during the same period of the previous fiscal year 2024-25.
This trend of growth continued into the new year, with ICT services exports for January 2026 alone reaching $374 million. This amount is 19.5 percent higher than the $313 million recorded in January 2025.
The ICT sector’s export volume of $2.61 billion makes it the highest-earning sector among all services sectors. The “Other business services” sector came in second, earning $1.21 billion in the same seven-month period.
According to industry experts, this strong expansion is not only boosting the country’s foreign exchange reserves but is also playing a significant role in creating new employment opportunities for the country’s youth.
This trend highlights the growing importance of the technology sector for Pakistan’s economy and indicates a bright future for continued expansion.
