Pakistan’s own Mikaeel Ali Baig, in a formidable partnership with Russia’s Timur Gordeev, delivered a dominant performance to capture the Boys Doubles title at the ITF Pakistan J-30 Junior Tennis Championships on Friday, bringing home a major victory on local soil.
The Pakistani-Russian duo demonstrated exceptional synergy at the PTF-SDA Tennis Complex, overwhelming their opponents Ippei Matsushima of Japan and Kristijonas Milasaukas of Lithuania in a decisive straight-sets win with a score of 6-1, 6-1.
In the Girls Doubles final, the Turkish team of Serife Pelin Sari and Deniz Cakil emerged victorious after a hard-fought battle. They overcame the Chinese pair of Mingxi Qu and Zihan Feng in a gripping three-set contest that concluded 4-6, 6-3, (10-5).
The stage is also set for the Girls Singles final after intense semifinal matches earlier in the day. Ecrin Lal Yavuz from Turkey secured her spot by defeating China’s Mingxi Qu 7-6(2), 6-4. She will face Korea’s Yewon Lee, who advanced by triumphing over Zihan Feng of China in a challenging three-set match, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1.
The prestigious international tournament features rising tennis talents from ten countries, including Japan, Kazakhstan, the United Kingdom, and Thailand. The event is sponsored by PARCO, OGDCL, National Food, Ali Embroidery, and the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
The championships will conclude tomorrow with the Girls Singles final scheduled for 10:00 am, followed by the Boys Singles final at 2:00 pm. Both matches will be broadcast live on the official PTF YouTube channel.
