KARACHI:Hours long power breakdown owing to short-circuit at Dr Ruth Pafu Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) on Thursday caused grave hardships to the patients as well as medical staff.
Sources at CHK told PPI that that hours long load shedding had adversely affected the routine operational work in the hospital and the administration had faced grave hardship in patients’ management. Scores of scheduled surgical operations have been postponed due to the hours long power breakdown.
The hospital administration used the standby generators to provide electricity to Casualty Department, Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and other department where need more. The power breakdown has started around 09:30 am this morning due to the short-circuit in sub-station which was not restored till the filing of story.
The admitted patients suffer a great deal due to unavailability of electricity in wards. The hospital administration called the K-Electric teams for restoration of power supply and teams were working to restore power supply to the hospital till filing this news. Medical Superintended, CHK, Dr Noor Soomro was not available for comments.
