Test cricketer and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selection committee member Asad Shafiq inaugurated newly developed net practice cricket pitches at the IBA Cricket Ground, Main Campus, during a ceremony held to mark the launch of the facility.
Shafiq interacted with IBA’s official student cricket team, bowled a few deliveries, and shared cricketing insights drawn from his professional experience. As part of the event, he also planted a tree at the ground, aligning the moment with themes of growth and sustainability.
The event was attended by IBA Registrar Dr. Mohammad Asad Ilyas, along with Fuad A. Mehdi, Head of Marketing and Communications; Fahad Jawed, Associate Registrar, Resource Optimization; and Jamsheed Issa, Manager Sports.
Souvenirs were presented to Shafiq in appreciation of his participation. Discussions during the ceremony focused on strengthening sports infrastructure and promoting student involvement in cricket.
Participants also explored potential collaboration with PCB to offer aspiring student cricketers professional-level training and greater exposure, in line with IBA’s broader goals of fostering holistic student development.
