PCG torches illicit drugs worth Rs1.36 million

GWADAR: Pakistan Coast Guards set ablaze massive quantity of illicit drugs in a ceremony held in Gwadar on Thursday.

 

Governor Balochistan, Justice (Retd) Amanullah Khan Yasinzai was the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the function, Governor Balochistan said that Pakistan Coast Guard was an effective force fighting narcotics trafficking.

 

He added that the purpose of drug burning was to convey a message to the world that government of Pakistan was giving zero tolerance to all kinds of illegal drugs. He urged departments concerned and media associated persons to join hands to generate a unified response to effectively fight this evil.

 

He added that Pakistan Coast Guards’ achievements were laudable and hoped that the same spirit would continue in future as well. Illicit drugs worth Rs1.36 million were destroyed in the ceremony including 3,3500 kilo hashish, 715 kilo heroin, 300 kilo crystal , 80 kilo morfin, 16 kilo ice, 50 ton betel nuts, 20000 packets Indian Gotka and 4000 kilo bottles of wine and beer. GOC 41 Division urged parents to refrain their children from drugs. He added jehad of Pakistan Coast Guards against drugs would continue.
