The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has completed its preparations in view of possible rains in Karachi. Director General (DG) PDMA, Salman Shah, inspected the drainage pumping stations across the city and reviewed the performance of the pumps installed at important locations like Dr. Ziauddin Road and Shahrah-e-Faisal. He expressed satisfaction over the existing arrangements.
Salman Shah directed the staff to ensure immediate drainage of water in case of rain. He said that as per the instructions of Minister for Rehabilitation Makhdoom Mehboob-ul-Zaman, drainage pumps have been strategically installed on major highways. Currently, thirteen pumps are deployed, while three additional units are ready for use in case of emergency.
Director Operations, Shayan Shah, also reviewed the preparations at Kemari Chorangi and Submarine Underpass. The DG PDMA confirmed that the pumping stations are fully functional and the staff is ready to deal with any emergency. In view of intermittent rain, the public has been advised to avoid unnecessary travel.
