PDP stages protest against harassment, curbs on media in IIOJK

Srinagar, September 28, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held a protest in Srinagar against the atrocities, harassment, arrest spree, continued detention of political prisoners and dismissal of government employees.

According to Kashmir Media Service, scores of PDP leaders and activists led by Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura assembled outside party headquarters in Srinagar. The protesters took out a march and proceeded towards Polo View; however, they were stopped by police.

The protesters were carrying placards that read, ‘stop harassment’, ‘restore freedom of press’, ‘stop arbitrary detentions’, ‘release political prisoners’, ‘stop implementing new laws in Jammu and Kashmir’ and ‘reinstate Anganwari workers.’

While talking to media, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura said: “We are protesting against the unprecedented harassment of people from the BJP led regime. He said that swords are kept hanging over our heads, as there is no space left for expression of opinion.

He added that government employees were being shown door, media was being pressurized and stopped from writing or showing truth. There is unprecedented harassment. Political leaders are still languishing in jails and are not released. Is this what they say normalcy,” Hanjura asked. “We will continue to raise our voice collectively and won’t tolerate new laws that are being enforced upon us,” he said.”
