Islamabad, September 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):Under the auspices of Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, (PMYP) Higher Education Commission, Pakistan (HEC) organized a fundraising match and inauguration ceremony of Hockey Talent Hunt Youth Sports League at Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Raisani Hockey Stadium, Quetta.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs (SAPM-YA), Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja graced the occasion as Chief Guest. This is happening for the first time in the history of Pakistan that hockey trials are being organized in Balochistan under Talent Hunt Youth Sports League that young players aged 15 to 25 years will be given an opportunity to showcase their talent in different sports.
Talent Hunt Youth Sports League aims to populate sports fields and attract youth to participate in co-curricular activities. Speaking on the occasion, SAPM-YA said that the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme aims to provide equal opportunities of growth to youngsters in Balochistan as compared to youngsters of other regions.
Green Youth Movement, National Innovation Award, Digital Youth Development Centers, Talent Hunt Youth Sports League and other youth centric projects are part of Prime Minister’s Youth Programme and Baloch youngsters are equally eligible to participate in these projects, she maintained.
She informed that the first phase of talent hunt youth sports league includes weightlifting, wrestling and hockey trials, provincial and national leagues, while in the second phase, trials of badminton, table tennis, squash and volleyball will be held.
Addressing the aspiring sports players, SAPM-YA said that they should be part of Talent Hunt Youth Sports League to get selected through trials and avail opportunity to represent Pakistan in International competitions.
Vice Chancellor, Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences Dr. Dost Muhammad Baloch, Vice Chancellor, Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology Dr. Ehsan ullah Kakar, Vice Chancellor, University of Loralai, Engr. Prof. Dr. Maqsood Ahmed and Vice Chancellor, University of Turbat Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad were present on the occasion. Ex-Olympians, former hockey players, HEC officials and representatives of Balochistan Hockey Federation were also present on the occasion.
